Multiethnic Young Leaders Members are catalysts for positive change. They are individuals committed to strengthening social cohesion, championing ethnic and intersectional diversity in leadership, and empowering diverse young New Zealanders.

MEMBERSHIP TYPES

FULL MEMBER

Full Members are established young leaders who have already made measurable contributions towards strengthening social cohesion, championing ethnic and intersectional diversity in leadership, and empowering diverse young New Zealanders. They are individuals who have previously been formally recognised for their service and/or leadership potential. Full Members are selected via a comprehensive multi-part process that includes completing a full application form, submitting a Statement of Purpose or Video of Purpose, and providing a Letter of Recommendation.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER

Associate Members are emerging young leaders who are passionate about making measurable contributions towards strengthening social cohesion, championing ethnic and intersectional diversity in leadership, and empowering diverse young New Zealanders. They are individuals who are at the start of their service and/or leadership journey. Associate Membership is open to all New Zealanders aged between 18 and 35. However, membership may be revoked if an individual is found to be in violation of MYLN’s kaupapa, goals or objectives. To become an Associate Member, you must complete a condensed application form.

Membership is not restricted to individuals of a certain ethnicity, race or background.
Members do not have to identify as “ethnic” or tangata whenua to be involved with our mahi and/or support our kaupapa.

FULL MEMBER CRITERIA

Full Members are accepted based on a combination of outstanding character, leadership and commitment to service. Multiethnic Young Leaders Full Members are individuals who have demonstrated a clear commitment to leading with mana, humility and purpose.

FULL MEMBER EXPECTATIONS

Full Members are expected to commit to strengthening social cohesion, championing ethnic and intersectional diversity in leadership, empowering diverse young New Zealanders, and actively contributing to the organisation’s kaupapa, goals and objectives.

Full Members are also expected to:
1. Attend Member events and engage with other Members in the network,
2. Drive and support Multiethnic Young Leaders’ key events, projects and initiatives,
3. Join MYLN committees and/or actively contribute to MYLN projects, events and campaigns,
4. Identify as a Multiethnic Young Leaders Member in their professional bios and LinkedIn Profiles.

BECOME A FULL OR ASSOCIATE MEMBER

Full and Associate Member applications are currently closed. Please join the mailing list to receive notification by email when applications reopen in 2024.

2023 MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN

All Full Member applicants will automatically be considered for Associate Membership. 2023 Applications close at 5:00pm, Sunday 16th April 2023. All applicants will be notified of the outcome by 5:00pm, Wednesday 21st June 2023.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

We are committed to ensuring that money is not a barrier to access for any young person and aspiring leader, and therefore we do not charge individual membership fees. This is made possible through the generous support of our Corporate Impact Investors and community grants.

If your organisation is interested in backing our equity and accessibility commitment as a Corporate Impact Investor, we would be thrilled to kōrero with you and answer any pātai you may have.
